Struggling to change your primary card on Apple Pay? Someone please explain it in simple steps. I’m totally stuck and need real help, not confusing guides.



Okay… I don’t know if it’s just me being tired or if Apple Pay is actually this confusing but I’ve been trying for like 20 minutes to figure out how to change my primary card on Apple Pay, and I swear it’s not as simple as it should be.


My old card is almost expired, and every time I try to pay for something, Apple Pay insists on using that same old card. Like, bro, I added a new one… use it . But nope. It keeps choosing the wrong one, and now I’m sitting here wondering if I’m missing a setting somewhere.


I tapped around Wallet… then settings… then Wallet again… and then at some point I wasn’t even sure what I was tapping anymore . Every guide online looks different from what I see on my phone, and it just makes me more confused.


So I’m asking here because real people explain things way better than those random “tech help” sites.


Can someone please tell me:


– Where exactly do you set the main card?
– Do you have to drag it, remove the old one, long-press it, or what?
– Does Apple Pay instantly switch it, or do you have to restart something?
– And why does Apple Pay keep defaulting to the wrong card even after I add a new one??

The quickest way to change your primary card on Apple Pay is:
Open Wallet
Press and hold the card you want as default
Drag it to the front/top
Release — that’s now your default card
You don’t need to restart anything. Apple Pay will use that card automatically from now on.

You set your main Apple Pay card from Wallet, not Settings.
Just tap and hold the new card → drag it above the old one.
