Okay… I don’t know if it’s just me being tired or if Apple Pay is actually this confusing but I’ve been trying for like 20 minutes to figure out how to change my primary card on Apple Pay, and I swear it’s not as simple as it should be.


My old card is almost expired, and every time I try to pay for something, Apple Pay insists on using that same old card. Like, bro, I added a new one… use it . But nope. It keeps choosing the wrong one, and now I’m sitting here wondering if I’m missing a setting somewhere.


I tapped around Wallet… then settings… then Wallet again… and then at some point I wasn’t even sure what I was tapping anymore . Every guide online looks different from what I see on my phone, and it just makes me more confused.

The quickest way to change your primary card on Apple Pay is:
Open Wallet
Press and hold the card you want as default
Drag it to the front/top
Release — that’s now your default card
You don’t need to restart anything. Apple Pay will use that card automatically from now on.

You set your main Apple Pay card from Wallet, not Settings.
Just tap and hold the new card → drag it above the old one.
Apple Pay always uses whatever card is at the top of the stack.
If your old card keeps showing up, remove it or move it to the bottom.

To change your primary card:

• Long-press your new card
• Drag it to the very first position
